Fellowship in Psychiatry

Postby ragotine » Fri Dec 05, 2008 7:07 pm

I am a registrar in Psychiatry in the UK. I have completed my post graduate exams and will be eligible to work as a consultant in 2 years. I will obtain my CCT [ Certificate of specialist training ] at the same time[ in 2 yrs]. Does anyone know if I can pursue a fellowship programme if I have my steps 1 ,2 and the clinical exams without going through the rigmarole of a residency program me. I am quite keen to work here. Any useful advice welcome.

Technically you can. However, it is going to be difficult to find a fellowship program that would want to consider you without US residency. It usually works if there is someone who knows you well.
